Ponder on God’s word and consider the first question, ‘What do I want to thank God for today?’ Allow your spirit to celebrate God’s goodness.
Your thanksgiving is unlimited.
It could be as simple as the air you breathe, your family and friends, for Jesus Christ, for nature e.g.
your pet dog, answered prayers etc.
If you feel to sing or dance, great – do it!
Let your spirit soar!
Your praise, thanksgiving and worship will you draw you closer to God.
Tears are fine too.
As you draw near to God He will draw near to you and His presence and love will set you free from things like hurts and disappointments.
Any emotions you experience may be a sign of healing and restoration – let them flow!
Next, focus your mind on the next question, ‘What is God saying to me right now?’ He may speak to you in many different ways and you need to exercise your faith in believing that whatever comes into your mind, is from God.
Obviously, you will need to filter out anything that is inconsistent with God’s character.
He will only speak loving words to you that build you up and bring your spirit to life – unkind, hateful, hurtful and negative thoughts are not from God!
The Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth through scripture.
You will get to know God and, with practice, you will get better at hearing His voice.
He may speak to you by bringing into your thoughts, words e.g.
a scripture, a picture or image e.g.
nature, a song or even a noise or a beautiful fragrance.
Ponder on whatever comes to your mind and consider what God is saying you.
Maybe He is guiding you for a major decision, a relationship or it may simply be to encourage and comfort you on your journey.
Write down in your devotional app the things God has spoken to you and add a picture or an image.Also, connect the things God has said to you with anything of significance you are going through,including how you are feeling.
These will become helpful memories of God’s faithfulness to encourage you in any trials you may face in the future.
